{"id":603,"date":"2010-01-24T09:16:05","date_gmt":"2010-01-24T17:16:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thezeal.com\/cooking\/?p=603"},"modified":"2010-01-24T09:16:05","modified_gmt":"2010-01-24T17:16:05","slug":"methi-chicken","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kaizen.ist\/cooking\/methi-chicken\/","title":{"rendered":"Methi Chicken"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chicken \u2013 1 \u2013 1.5lb cut into medium sized pieces<\/li>\n<li>Onions \u2013 2 big (sliced)<\/li>\n<li>Tomatoes \u2013 1 big (sliced)<\/li>\n<li>Methi (Fenugreek Leaves) &#8211; 1.5 cups<\/li>\n<li>Green Chillies \u2013 2 or 3 (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Ginger garlic paste \u2013 1 to 2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder \u2013 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Chilli powder \u2013 2 to 2 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Coriander powder \u2013 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Cumin seed powder \u2013 1\/2 tsp (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Garam masala items \u2013 1 tsp (cloves \u2013 1, cinnamon stick \u2013 1, saunf \u2013  1\/2 tsp, bay leaf \u2013 1)<\/li>\n<li>Salt \u2013 to taste<\/li>\n<li>Oil<\/li>\n<li>Coriander leaves(Cilantro) and Curry leaves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nIn a pan, heat oil and add the garam masala items and onions. Saute the  onions for a while. Then, add the ginger garlic paste and saute. Then,  add the methi leaves and saute for a few minutes. Then add the tomatoes, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder,  cumin seed powder, green chillies and salt. Fry this mixture for a while  maybe adding a little bit of water. Then, add the chicken pieces with  some water so that the chicken pieces are covered with water and cover  the pan with a lid and allow to cook for 1\/2hr or until chicken is done.  Once the oil starts to come out to the top, the kozhambu is done (the  consistency should be between a gravy and watery \u2013 soup like).
