{"id":515,"date":"2009-10-26T12:09:46","date_gmt":"2009-10-26T20:09:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thezeal.com\/cooking\/?p=515"},"modified":"2009-10-26T12:09:46","modified_gmt":"2009-10-26T20:09:46","slug":"thaalicha-paruppu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kaizen.ist\/cooking\/thaalicha-paruppu\/","title":{"rendered":"Thaalicha Paruppu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Toor Dal &#8211; 1\/2 cup<\/li>\n<li>Garlic flakes &#8211; 2 to 3<\/li>\n<li>Curry Leaves &#8211; a few<\/li>\n<li>Cumin seeds &#8211; 1\/2 tsp (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Green Chillies &#8211; 2 small (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Dry red chillies &#8211; 3<\/li>\n<li>Asafoetida &#8211; 1\/4 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Salt &#8211; to taste<\/li>\n<li>Oil &#8211; 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<li>Mustard Seeds &#8211; 1\/4 tsp<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nPressure cook the dal with garlic flakes, asafoetida and turmeric powder adding required amount of water (for 1\/2 cup of dal, add around 1- 1.5 cups of water). Mash the dal well with a wooden spoon.<\/p>\n<p>In a pan, heat the oil, splutter the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and chillies. Add this to the mashed dal. Add salt and mix well.
