{"id":476,"date":"2009-10-26T11:48:29","date_gmt":"2009-10-26T19:48:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thezeal.com\/cooking\/?p=476"},"modified":"2009-10-26T11:48:29","modified_gmt":"2009-10-26T19:48:29","slug":"keerai-masiyal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kaizen.ist\/cooking\/keerai-masiyal\/","title":{"rendered":"Keerai Masiyal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Greens &#8211; 1\/2 lb diced<\/li>\n<li>Moong Dal &#8211; 1\/4 cup<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Onions &#8211; 1\/2 diced (or fried onions)<\/li>\n<li>Green chillies &#8211; 1 or 2 slit<\/li>\n<li>Mustard seeds &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Oil &#8211; 1\/2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pressure cook the greens along with the dal, green chillies adding some turmeric powder and salt.<\/p>\n<p>In a pan, heat oil, splutter mustard seeds. Then add the onions (or fried onions) and saute for a while. Then add the pressure cooked contents to this and bring to a boil. Smash the greens and dal well as they cook so they blend together (or smash the pressure cooked contents using a &#8220;mathhu&#8221; &#8211; make sure you set aside the green chillies before you do this, or else the masiyal might become too &#8220;hot&#8221;). Can substitute toor dal instead of moong dal as well. Can use this method for any of the greens varieties.
