{"id":391,"date":"2009-10-24T04:43:03","date_gmt":"2009-10-24T12:43:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thezeal.com\/cooking\/?p=391"},"modified":"2009-10-24T04:43:03","modified_gmt":"2009-10-24T12:43:03","slug":"cabbage-poriyal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kaizen.ist\/cooking\/cabbage-poriyal\/","title":{"rendered":"Cabbage Poriyal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cabbage &#8211; 2 cups (diced finely)<\/li>\n<li>Green chillies &#8211; 2 sliced lengthwise (or) Red Chillies &#8211; 2<\/li>\n<li>Onion?  &#8211; 1 small diced<\/li>\n<li>Mustard Seeds &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Split urad dal &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Oil &#8211; 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<li>Salt &#8211; to taste<\/li>\n<li>Moong dal &#8211; 2 tsp (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves &#8211; a few (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Grated coconut &#8211; 2 tsp (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nIn a pan, heat the oil, splutter mustard seeds and add the urad dal and fry for a few seconds. To this, add the onions and saute. Can add moong dal and curry leaves to this. Then, add the green chillies and cabbage along with a little water and required amount of salt and allow to cook until the cabbage is soft and all the water has drained out. Finally, add in the grated coconut and mix well. Remove from heat. Note: if adding red chillies instead of green, add them after you add the urad dal. Adding either green\/red chillies is dependent on your preference.
