{"id":228,"date":"2009-10-22T18:36:18","date_gmt":"2009-10-23T02:36:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thezeal.com\/cooking\/?p=228"},"modified":"2009-10-27T03:40:19","modified_gmt":"2009-10-27T11:40:19","slug":"masala-paruppu-vadai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kaizen.ist\/cooking\/masala-paruppu-vadai\/","title":{"rendered":"Masala (Paruppu) Vadai"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gram Dal &#8211; 1 cup<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<li>Onions &#8211; 2 medium finely chopped<\/li>\n<li>Green Chillies &#8211; 1 finely chopped, 1 cut into two<\/li>\n<li>Red Chillies &#8211; 2<\/li>\n<li>Ginger &#8211; 1\/4 inch chopped<\/li>\n<li>Coriander leaves &#8211; chopped 2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li>Curry Leaves &#8211; chopped 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<li>Oil for deep frying<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Soak gram dal for about 2 hrs. Grind all of the dal (except 2 tbsp) with the ginger, red chillies and 1 green chilli and salt to a coarse batter. Do not overgrind else the batter will become very smooth. Add in the chopped onions, rest of the soaked gram dal (2 tbsp amount), green chillies and coriander, curry leaves. Mix well.<\/p>\n<p>Slightly oil the palm of your hand. Take about a small ball of the batter and place it in the palm of ur hand. Flatten it slightly. Remove from hand and drop into the oil and fry until golden brown. Avoid adding too much water to the batter, else the vadas will crumble.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miscellaneous:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tips: Serve hot as an appetizer\/snack or with a meal.<\/li>\n<li>Serves 4-5<\/li>\n<li>Cooking Time: 20 min<\/li>\n<li>Cuisine: Indian<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ingredients: Gram Dal &#8211;
