{"id":209,"date":"2009-10-21T22:00:43","date_gmt":"2009-10-22T06:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thezeal.com\/cooking\/?p=209"},"modified":"2009-10-21T22:00:43","modified_gmt":"2009-10-22T06:00:43","slug":"karaikal-shrimp-fry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kaizen.ist\/cooking\/karaikal-shrimp-fry\/","title":{"rendered":"Karaikal Shrimp Fry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shrimps\/Prawns &#8211; 1 lb peeled, deveined and cleaned<\/li>\n<li>Onions &#8211; 1 medium (chopped fine)<\/li>\n<li>Ginger garlic paste &#8211; 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Chilli powder &#8211; 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Coriander powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Black pepper powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Salt &#8211; to taste<\/li>\n<li>Oil &#8211; 2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li>Tamarind paste &#8211; 1\/4 tsp (or less)<\/li>\n<li>Pottu Kadalai flour &#8211; 2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves &#8211; a few<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cook the shrimp adding a little water, salt and turmeric.<\/p>\n<p>In a pan, heat oil and add the onions. Saute the onions for a while. Then, add the ginger garlic paste, curry leaves and saute. Then, add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, pepper powder and salt. Fry this mixture for a few seconds and then add the pre-cooked shrimp. Sprinkle a little water and mix well. When the shrimp is fully cooked, add in the tamarind paste and mix. Allow to fry well. Finally, sprinkle the pottu kadalai flour and allow to become crisp.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miscellaneous:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tips: Serve hot with rice, sambhar or rasam.<\/li>\n<li>Serves 4-5<\/li>\n<li>Cooking Time: 25 min<\/li>\n<li>Cuisine: Indian<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ingredients: Shrimps\/Prawns &#8211;
