{"id":199,"date":"2009-10-21T21:34:32","date_gmt":"2009-10-22T05:34:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thezeal.com\/cooking\/?p=199"},"modified":"2009-10-21T21:34:32","modified_gmt":"2009-10-22T05:34:32","slug":"mocha-kottai-karuvaatu-kozhambu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kaizen.ist\/cooking\/mocha-kottai-karuvaatu-kozhambu\/","title":{"rendered":"Mocha Kottai Karuvaatu Kozhambu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mochakottai &#8211; 1\/4 cup<\/li>\n<li>Brinjals &#8211; 3 medium (diced) (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Dry Fish (Karuvaadu) &#8211; 1-2 slices cleaned<\/li>\n<li>Onions &#8211; 1 (medium) chopped<\/li>\n<li>Tomatoes &#8211; 2 (small) chopped<\/li>\n<li>Garlic &#8211; 3 cloves (small) &#8211; chopped roughly<\/li>\n<li>Mustard seeds &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Chilli powder &#8211; 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Coriander powder &#8211; 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder &#8211; 1\/4 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Tamarind paste &#8211; 1\/4 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Oil &#8211; 3 tbsps<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<li>Coconut paste &#8211; 3 tsp (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Soak the mochakottai overnight and pressure cook with a little salt and set aside.<\/p>\n<p>In a pan, heat the oil, splutter mustard seeds. Add the onions, garlic, tomatoes and saute for a while. Then, add the chilli, coriander, turmeric powders, brinjals and salt to the mix along with some water and allow the brinjals to cook well. Then add in the dry fish and allow to cook for a few minutes till it is cooked more than half. Then add the mochakottai to the mix and bring the contents to a boil. Finally stir in the tamarind paste. Bring to a boil.?
